Here we go. Live at 8PM on Pay-Per-View. You know I'll be there, will you? These are my predictions. I went 4-0 with my choices at the last fight night, so let's see if I can keep it rolling.
Anderson Silva(23-4) v. Thales Leites(14-1)
I have alot of respect for Thales Leites, but he's got no chance against the Spider. Leites is a black belt in jiu-jitsu, but so is Silva, and then some. Silva has the best striking in the UFC, maybe in all of MMA. I don't see this one going for too long
Prediction: Silva. TKO, rd 2.
Chuck Liddel(21-6) v. Mauricio Rua(17-3)
There are people who say Chuck Liddel is past his prime, and there are those who say that Shogun(Rua) is one of the most vicious strikers in the game. I disagree with both of these groups of people. Liddel may have been caught up in the fame, he may have been caught up in his own hype. I don't know, but I believe those problems are behind him. John Hackleman and Tony Robbins have Chucks mind back where it should be. Rua is hype and past glory. His last fight was against a dinosaur. You and I could've knocked out Mark Coleman's old ass. This should be an exciting fight though, I'll say that.
Prediction: Liddel. TKO, rd 2.
Krzysztof Soszynski (17-9-1) v. Brian Stann (6-1)
Krzysztof is a beast. He's big, surprisingly fast, and good at submissions. All around talented. Brian Stann, formerly the WEC LH champ, is rough but tough. I don't think he's got the same skill set as Krzysztof, or the same experience, but he's got a big hands and a punchers chance. Wouldn't be totally surprised if Brian pulled it off, but...
Prediction: Soszynski. KO, rd 3.
Cheick Kongo(23-4-1) v. Antoni Hardonk(8-4)
Cheick Kongo might is the biggest, not tallest, but biggest man in the UFC outside of Brock Lesnar. His ground game is weak, but Hardonk won't test him there. Kongo's Muay Thai is vicious. He's got some of the best knees in the game, especially from the clinch. Hardonk is best known for his leg kicks. If he can catch Kongo in the head, it could be over.
Prediction: Kongo. Unanimous Decision
Steve Cantwell (7-1) v. Luiz Cane (10-1-1)
I don't really know anything about either of these guys. Cantwell has been fighting over in the WEC against chumps. Cane has some impressive victories over the likes of Sokoudjou and Jason Lambert, but I didn't see those fights. Off the top of my head, I'm saying...
Prediction: Cane. TKO rd.1
Thats all the guaranteed fights, but I'd like to profile one more fight that may be the best of the night.
Jason MacDonald (22-11) v. Nate Quarry (16-3)
I can't believe this fight isn't on the guaranteed card. Both these guys are well known, well respected, and well rounded. Both are gamers too, ready to throw blows. MacDonald is a very high energy fighter, with well rounded skills. He'll try to overwhelm Quarry by pushing the pace. Nate Quarry has heavy hands and is battle tested. Since his back surgery, he's looked much more comfortable than before his operation. This WILL be a great fight.
Prediction: MacDonald. TKO rd. 3
One more thing, I don't wanna run your eyes for too long, but watch out for Dennis Kang. He's not an up and comer, he's established. It's only a matter of time until the UFC gives him bigger, better fights. This kids for real.
So there you have it. Let's see if I can keep the streak going. Tune in and enjoy. Love Life.
