1. Regular season or post season. It doesn’t matter. The Patriots keep on breaking records. QB Tom Brady became the first player to throw five touchdown passes in one half of playoff football. He also tied a post-season record with six touchdown passes in a game. Brady did this while throwing for 300 yards in a playoff game for the first time. To top it off, Brady executed a well placed 48-yard quick kick to Denver’s 10-yard line.

I have to say, I was skeptical that these four games could live up to the hype, especially after last weekend. But I’m happy to say I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. I even gave myself a cushy lead for later poor postseason predictions. But I’ll tell you about that later. Right now it’s time for The Final Drive of the Divisional Round!

Bill Belichick doesn’t do reunions. The Patriots head coach is not the sentimental type. Only if he feels someone can make the team better, then Belichick will welcome a familiar face back.

Are you exhausted yet? There was TOO MUCH DRAMA! (That’s a lie. There’s never too much.) Both nights of Wildcard weekend ended in tremendous excitement, wrapping up with a dramatic overtime ending that didn’t even warrant explanation of the new rules. I’m still appalled. Let’s just get The Final Drive started.

1. Behind Tom Brady’s good looks and nice guy personality is a competitor with an incomparable desire to win. After a week of Tim Tebow this and Tim Tebow that, Brady wanted to make a statement. Mission accomplished: 23-34, 320 yards, two TD passes and a rush TD. Tebow is a nice story, but when it comes to the best in the league, Brady expects the list starts with him. Don’t you think Brady envisioned Tebow’s face on the spot Brady spiked the ball after his touchdown run? I think so.

Happy Victory Monday to everyone whom it applies:
It does apply to the Cowboys who handled the Bucs so well that they only needed 3 points in the second half to win by two touchdowns. But is that slow second half foreshadowing for things to come? I'll discuss later.

I’m not sure what else you could have wanted from week 15 in the NFL. Two impressive streaks ended, the “Trap of the Week” proved to be true once again and one win never mattered as much as it did for Indianapolis. (And Candlestick Park was sans light… for a few second before auxiliary lighting come on. Not as much drama.) Many a-loser won on this day. Oddsmakers be damned! Get ready for The Final Drive!

About a month ago, I wrote a critical article about Denver quarterback Tim Tebow, declaring results won’t matter as much as his performance to secure the franchise quarterback role with the Broncos. His inability to pass accurately for a full game was the foundation of my argument.

This loss to Denver will be difficult to get over. The Bears practically handed the Broncos this game gift-wrapped. They made so many mistakes in the late minutes of the 4th quarter and OT, it is safe to say this was one of the worst defeats I've seen in recent years. There was a lot riding on this game, it occured in December, when losses are magnified, and it gave Tim Tebow who played poorly, opportunities to steal this one away from Chicago. Tebow played well when it mattered and willed his team to the victory. The Bears were huffing and puffing due to the frenetic pace and the altitude. Heck I was affected by the altitude and I watched the game on TV in New York City.

After a scoreless first half, I bet fans were just aching for this game to end in regulation. For Bronco fans, it was setting up perfectly for another installment of “Tebow Time.” Fortunately, the Bears had other ideas, forcing two turnovers from Timmy Teebs and shutting the Broncos down.

With two straight losses with Caleb Hanie at the helm, the Chicago Bears find themselves in an unenviable position on Sunday, traveling to Denver to meet the best (and most run into the ground) story in the NFL: Tim Tebow. After taking over the reins for John Fox’s offense, the Broncos are 6-1 and lead the AFC West after starting the year 1-4. Will there be more magic in Denver or can Urlacher and the Bears keep Timmy in check? It’s time to break this one down!

There was a time when John Elway, the great QB for the Denver Broncos could make a Bears fan feel anxious about coming into Denver. Now, a rather wild hot streak with Tim Tebow calling the signals, has Denver tied atop the AFC West, and in playoff consideration. Just a few weeks ago, the Bears were sitting pretty after a win that got them to 7-3 for the year. But a broken thumb to QB Jay Cutler and a sprained knee to starting back Matt Forte, has sidelined both players, Cutler most likely out for the season.

The intrigue around Jay Cutler's broken thumb keeps building. Kyle Orton, the ex-Bear QB was released by the Denver Broncos today and it was felt that Orton pushed to be released once it became apparent that Cutler would be out. Now, the questions arise: Will the Bears pick him up? If they do, will he start or back-up Hanie? Is Orton a good fit for the current Bears offense? It would appear that Hanie doesn't have the arm that Orton has, but he has improvisational ability to move the pocket, much like Cutler did. This would be more in liine with parts of the Martz offensive scheme. If Hanie moves around, that gives time for the Bears receivers to get open. Kyle Orton is a more conventional pocket QB. This would put additional pressure on the patched quilt line up front. Guys have been injured at the rate of a toll both off the Dan Ryan.

What a game NFL Network has for us tonight. Two of the most scrutinized quarterbacks in the NFL take to primetime hoping to prove they’re passable NFL signal-callers. Tim Tebow is 3-1 this season a starter and won his last start despite only completing two passes. Mark Sanchez is under fire yet again after getting shelled by the Patriots in what ended up being a blow-out loss at the Meadowlands. Thank you NFL!

1. I have to take a moment and pay respect to Al Davis. The legendary Oakland Raiders owner passed away on Saturday. Born in Brockton, MA, the rebel and leader of the Silver and Black was a steward of the AFL and helped form the modern day NFL. The Patriots held a moment of silence before the game to honor Davis. The league lost an icon.

I typically only write in here when I need to vent a few things about the Denver Broncos. I know my views are usually way off....(McDaniel's, Cutler...so on,) but come on folks! The Tebow chants on Monday's loss to Oakland have got to stop. Never in the history of the league has a coach admitted to starting a QB because the fans chanted his name when the starter played poorly. Orton is the best QB on the team, period. If Tebow was better, then why can't he earn the job in practice, training camp, pre-season? I don't want to hear that he would excel in a real game-time situation. Does Tom Brady perform poorly in practice?...no! Does Aaron Rogers?.....No! You earn the job in practice. Orton earned the job, had a poor game (along with the D run stop, O-line, RB's, kicking and special teams blocking) Can Tim Tebow keep McFadden from rushing for 150 yds? Can Tim Tebow assure that punts do not get blocked? Can Tim Tebow simply lift his left hand and block for himself? Yes, Tim can run out of the pocket and create.........Or at least he did in college, but he hasn't done any of those things consistently in practice against NFL players. If I test-drive a car on I-25 for a mile and the engine putters, then I am not driving that thing in Downtown Denver in rush hour.

Perhaps the second-to-worst division in football (they should thank their NFC counterparts), the AFC West was turned upside down when the Chiefs stole the division away from the Chargers. It's that time football fans! After nine weeks of the 2010 season, the picture has become slightly clearer, but in the current NFL, no one team has stood out as head and shoulders above the rest. Here are my grades for all 32 NFL teams, based on a few different criteria, not merely their win/loss record. Meeting, surpassing, or falling short of expectations, staying competitive and showing improvement over the course of the season is all taken into account, specific to that team. (So don't go comparing grades for one team to another, they're graded on their own.) Everyone loves getting graded, right? Here are my breakdowns, including some cheerleader shots to spice it up.

I have a lot of expectations for this year’s rookie class. First round pick Devin McCourty will get a lot of run, maybe as high as the third corner. The two tight ends will contribute almost immediately. Brandon Spikes will become a two-down run-stuffing ILB. Zoltan Mesko will win the punting job.

A theory:
The NFL and its 32 teams knew before draft day what was going to transpire in Round one of the 2010 Draft. The proof lies in the events that took place regarding college football golden boy Tim Tebow's draft. Is it merely great predictions or coincidence that EVERY analyst on NFL network planted the seed that "perhaps" Tebow might "surprise" everyone by being taken in the first round and suddenly *gasp* he was? It very well may be great predictions and a fantastically dramatic coincidence, but what if it wasn't?

To this point of the season the Cowboys have taken care of business, for the most part. The Cowboys could very easily be 9-1 had they just maintained their composure against the likes of the New York Giants and Denver Broncos. But instead of dwelling on what could have been, the ‘Boys did a good job of moving on as they went on to win 6 of their next 7 games and claim 1st place in the NFC east. Unfortunately, none of that matters now. The Cowboys are 8-3 with the Philadelphia Eagles in a close trail at 7-4, and the Giants still kicking at 6-5. And being that the final five games of this season are in the dreaded month of December, the phrase “anything can happen” is an understatement.

I wish head coach Bill Belichick let Dennis Green do the post game press conference for him. I really needed to hear the Patriots let the Broncos off the hook. It was as if New England let off the gas in the second half offensively. I realize New England has a poor record playing in Denver but they can’t use that as an excuse. Well, I have neglected this blog all year, but I had some free time today, so I figured I'd add a new post. The first two weeks of the NFL season have been pretty good, with the stupid Hail Mary from the Broncos to win week 1 (gosh I hate watching the highlights of that play) to the great game between Dallas and the NYG last week in the Texas palace. But the thing that has me the most excited is the Bengals' defense. They played hard all preseason, did really well agaianst Denver, minus that stupid Hail Mary, and recorded 6 sacks on Aaron Rodgers last week. This defense finished 15th last year and I feel they are well on their way to being a top 10 unit. With Odom healthy, it's easy to see why Cincy shelled out so much money for him last offseason. He has 7 sacks on the season (which leads the NFL) and works really well on third downs with Geathers on one end, Michael Johnson on the other, and Odom inside. This combo causes a lot of problems for the offenses and I feel that it will again this week against Pittsburgh.

It is the time of the year where we bid adieu to our Sunday trips to the local outlet malls and Bed, Bath and Beyond. Where, as men, we stop our tofu and salad diets in the name of our loved ones who are repulsed by our manly guts, and turn the grill up to happiness. No more flavored waters, playing cards with the in-laws or going to the zoo with your kids- no, my fellow men, it is Football season. It is the dawning of imported German sausage links, cheap-hardcore domestic manly beers (ok, maybe Light beers, let's be honest, we are a little fat), and the most destructive hard hitting American game filling our heads with fantasy stats, eye-popping hits, and hope for a glorious triumph.

What are the Denver Broncos doing right now? They are just a joke; they made a good hire; I thought. Josh McDaniels should be able to turn in into an offensive mastermind. He's learned from some of the best, and I think he's young and brash enough to make big things happen, but here is my problem. They are talking contract extension with WR Brandon Marshall? Really? This is the same guy that batted down passes on purpose during practice, walked while everybody else jogged/stretched, and then pulled the ultimate douchebag move and punted the ball away from the ballboy. Wow, because THAT's real tough. Mr. Marshall makes $2.198 million, and he acts like this. What a whiner.

-Bruce Bowen has retired from the NBA for anyone who actually cares. I care because I know that many of the NBA's top players can now rest easy knowing that Bruce Bowen isn't behind them trying kick them, punch them, tear their achilese, tear their ACL, poke them in the eye, or stab them in their sleep. I think that Bruce Bowen was a good player but he did not have to play the way he did in the latter part of his career. He sullied his reputation amongst the NBA fraternity. He could have been a all-world defender without being the worlds dirtiest player.

Pre-season predictions are probably one of my favorite things about the NFL off-season. I love this time so much because it absolutely validates my opinions of specific football analyst as well as football analysis as a whole. I mean seriously, has anyone listened to Mark Schlereth talk football. I’ll credit him on being a handsome and well spoken former football player, but he is no analyst. Same goes for “Dat Dude” Marcellus Wiley. I know he went to an Ivy League school, but I’m starting to seriously question this guy’s football intelligence. But I am digressing. Pre-season predictions are great because nearly everyone is wrong at the end of the season (not just Mark and Marc…that would be a great show huh?). There might be one or two people that actually predict the outcome of the Super Bowl, but to try and anticipate what will happen at the top end of the National Football League is nearly impossible. Notice I say “top end” because there are some teams that are guaranteed to be at the bottom of the food chain: Lions, Raiders, Rams, Bills, Chiefs, Broncos, Buccaneers, etc. But, predicting who will make the playoffs and who will ultimately win the Super Bowl is about as close to a crapshoot as you can get in professional sports. This is why I like that the Dallas Cowboys are ranked no higher than 15th on any major power rankings.

The game’s over. Can you shut up about it now? As the most exciting and drama-filled preseason game I can remember, Sunday night’s Bears v. Broncos match-up didn’t disappoint. Well, unless you’re a Broncos fan that is.

We know that football, or should I say American football, has been growing for years. It's just that the mainstream media does not cover American style football as much as, say, the NCAA or NFL.

Since the Chicago Cubs and White Sox are all but out of contention in baseball, this Chicago fan can cheer for the Bears going into hostile territory and defeating the Denver Broncos.
It's not easy to win a game in Denver. But after seeing Jay Cutler go 15 for 21, throwing the ball with authority and leading the Bears offense and watching Kyle Orton trying to match up, the Bears may have gotten the steal of the year.

After last week’s impressive performance, the Chicago Bears are looking to improve on the little things and settle some key position battles. This week, they visit the mile-high city for one of the most hotly anticipated preseason match-ups in recent memory. As much as Jay Cutler and Josh McDaniels say this game doesn’t matter, you know they’re itching to embarrass the other guy just a little bit. I personally can’t wait to see our defense pick off Kyle Orton, but that’s just me.

We'll get back to horse racing soon. This is a lull in the season. Now, even the horse players are focused on the NFL. Who will be better? Who will be worse.
In this analysis, I simply take what the teams had, what they lost and gained, and weigh all the potentials. For example, 3 first and second round draft pick linebackers in their third year would translate into at least 2 successes.

There’s been a lot of talk of contracts of late: Why has Vince Wilfork’s talks stalled when Nick Kaczur and Mark LeVoir can get extensions? With Eli Manning and Phillip Rivers getting mega deals, what will Tom Brady ask for when his negotiations open up? If Ted has four oranges and Mike has seven, then what is the capital of Scandinavia?

Can all the naysayers please sit down?
After a sub-par performance in his first preseason game as a Bear, Jay Cutler had to listen to a week of Chicago fans moan and groan about the offense’s slow progress. That certainly won’t be the case this week.

A team strength just got a tiny bit weaker. The Patriots traded DL Le Kevin Smith to Denver for a 5th round pick. That selection was then sent to Oakland to complete the Derrick Burgess trade. The agreement was New England gave the Raiders 3rd and 4th round selections unless the Pats could get Oakland a 5th round pick. If the Pats came through with the fifth rounder, then that would replace the fourth round pick.

Well the 49ers are off to a good start. Although I was hoping for more scoring from our offense, I was still pleased with the win.
The Defense was better than I thought they would be this early on in pre season. The way the secondary played was what I thought it would be...swarming! They were all over the place. They did give up a couple of big plays but kept their composure and played through it.

It's that time of year again folks. Time to start predicting the unpredictable. Will any of the Denver Broncos running backs get enough carries to warrant a spot on your roster? Can Michael Turner replicate last season's performance and warrant the second overall pick in your draft? What will Terrell Owens's numbers look like now that he is in Buffalo? And how does that impact Trent Edwards value as the Bills' QB? Who am I taking if I get the first pick? What if I get stuck at the end of the first round? Do I snatch up two running backs? Or should I go one running back and also nab a top tier receiver?

Wow! It has been a while since I have posted anything on here. It almost seems there is too much to say. Quarterback worries, our number one draft pick worries and Brandon Marshall worries. Where do I even begin? Well, my last post was about how I believe Kyle Orton will do just fine leading this team to the superbowl!! Maybe I am getting a little ahead of myself. I believe he will do just fine leading us to the playoffs, at the very least a winning record. There! Is that a little more rational? According to McDaniels he is looking good and feeling good. What more can we ask for at this point?

This is my first blog entry so it will be short.
Well what brung me to the broncos was champ baily. i think he is the best thing that happen to the broncos. I am kinda sad that they traded his brother boss baily. He was line backer. he was good too. I am thinking that they are going to trade champ too. i think this because he is getting old and i am not sure but i think he only has one more year on his contract, after this year. brain dawkins was another good descion to the defence. they had the worst defence last year. the offence kepp it up a lil bit but without a defence the team can get to the playoffs but not the super bowl. so this is my first blog. hope you like. my other ones i hope will get better and better and yall will enjoy.

This is my first blog so work with me here ok. Theres alot going around that Marshall is going to be traded away in the next few weeks. I just dont see that happening, because the broncos can afford to lose another great player. I believe with in the next few weeks that the broncos and Marshall will work out a new contract. Sure he posted a blog on his web site saying farewell to denver and its friends but could be because he dont think denver will keep him. Mcdaniels says that Marshall will be at training camp in July. After the numbers that he has put up the last two seasons he desevers a new contract.

I can’t remember a busier or more significant Chicago Bears offseason. After the miraculous acquisition of Jay Cutler (which I still can’t believe happened), and then the signing of Orlando Pace, Jerry Angelo could have sat out the rest of free agency and skipped the draft and Bears fans would have been content. Not one to rest on his new QB’s laurels, Angelo refuses to let up.

Ok Mr Brandon Marshall, after leading the NFL in RYAC (receiving yards after contact) in 2007, complimented by your 6' 4" 230lb frame, the nickname of, "The Beast" was aptly and well deserved. After back-to-back seasons (2007-2008) with 100 plus catches and 1,000 plus yds, your physical talent was needless to say, without question and one of the best as a receiver in the NFL. Now, had this been the main body of work to your story to date here in Denver, this is one fan whom would be firmly entrenched in your korner so to speak..

Tell me this isn’t happening again. Another soap opera at Broncos headquarters. Once again a key player is at the center of it, a player who has loads of talent. Heck, this player can certainly be described as a very unique talent. The player in question is unhappy, and has reportedly demanded a trade. Sound familiar? This did not work out as the Broncos hoped with Jay Cutler. How will it work with Brandon Marshall? Unfortunately, the Broncos might be about to find out. Mr. Marshall did not show for the team’s mandatory minicamp over the weekend.

Did Jay Cutler make the right choice, when demanding to be traded, and who benefitted the most, from his decision? There are two sides to every story, or at least there should be, so let's examine this situation from both perspectives, before drawing our own conclusions, shall we? Cutler has indicated that he was happy things worked in his favor in the end, but he might have alienated many Denver Broncos fans in the process, who are still seeking a successor to the legendary John Elway, and restore the renowned franchise to prosperity.

As OTA's and minicamps progress while training camp begin to roll over the horizon, America's favorite sport nears its regular season. While nobody knows how well teams will do in a season with the randomness of injuries and several other factors, it's always interesting to look ahead at the schedule and prognosticate. Unlike most people, I'm not going to give just a win or loss for each game, rather I'm going to predict how many times the Steelers would win if they played a team 10 times. For instance if the Steelers were playing a very crappy team, I would say 9/10 or 10/10. At the end i will add up the wins and divide by 10, giving us how many wins they will have this season.

I waited a few days after the NFL draft to post my thoughts on how the Broncos did because I needed time to digest their selections and determine whether or not I truly liked the moves the team made. The truth is, like with every draft, it will be a minimum two seasons and probably three before we can really assign a grade to this or any team’s draft, so any opinion expressed now is really a shot in the dark. For example, it looks like the Broncos’ draft of 2008 is good for the time being, as Ryan Clady and Eddie Royal both had outstanding rookie seasons. We still need to wait another year or two however before we can truly evaluate that draft as a whole. That said, I have a few thoughts on the Broncos’ selections from last weekend:
