First they were lucky.
Now they're terrible, hapless on defense and mistake-prone on offense.
The Broncos know what the critics are saying.
"As fast as people jumped on the wagon, they're jumping off just as fast," tight end Daniel Graham surmised.
Actually, style points and deficiencies aside, what the Broncos are is 3-1 in black and white.
And on Monday, the locker room appeared to be following the lead of quarterback Jay Cutler, who Sunday suggested the Broncos "can't go into a panic," even after one troubling loss at previously winless Kansas City.
"I had a feeling what was coming as the game was ending," long snapper Mike Leach said. " 'See, they really aren't as good as people think they are . . . ' Look, if you go 3-1 in each quarter, you're 12-4 and most likely you have a home playoff game and win your division. The sky's not falling. We played a terrible game. We have to make sure it doesn't happen again. There's no good in panicking and infighting."

Power Rankings posted on 09/30/2008
This weeks power rankings on ESPN.com have the Broncos at number 11, four down from last week. To me these things mean nothing but somehow 17000 people on average leave their thoughts about what they think. So instead of what saying what I think there I'll just let you all know here.
11? Wow that is waaay to high after the performance they had last week. The Broncos offense couldn't take care of the ball turning it over 4 times including two picks by Cutler and the defense gave up 213 yards on the ground alone (198 of which was done by a washed up running back who had barely run for that all season). The Broncos really have to learn to stop anyone if they want to be a contender in the AFC.
But, there was some good that came out of the game. Cutler, altough throwing 2 picks, had a pretty good game through the air. (361 yards and a TD) Brandon Marshall had probably one of the most athletic catches I've seen in a while on the 16-yard touchdown from Cutler in the 2nd quarter. Denver's passing defense only gave up 160 yards thorugh the air (albeit to Damon Huard, and why run when you are having that much success right?).
