I typically only write in here when I need to vent a few things about the Denver Broncos.  I know my views are usually way off....(McDaniel's, Cutler...so on,) but come on folks!  The Tebow chants on Monday's loss to Oakland have got to stop.  Never in the history of the league has a coach admitted to starting a QB because the fans chanted his name when the starter played poorly.  Orton is the best QB on the team, period.  If Tebow was better, then why can't he earn the job in practice, training camp, pre-season?  I don't want to hear that he would excel in a real game-time situation.  Does Tom Brady perform poorly in practice?...no!  Does Aaron Rogers?.....No!  You earn the job in practice.  Orton earned the job, had a poor game (along with the D run stop, O-line, RB's, kicking and special teams blocking)  Can Tim Tebow keep McFadden from rushing for 150 yds?  Can Tim Tebow assure that punts do not get blocked?  Can Tim Tebow simply lift his left hand and block for himself?  Yes, Tim can run out of the pocket and create.........Or at least he did in college, but he hasn't done any of those things consistently in practice against NFL players.  If I test-drive a car on I-25 for a mile and the engine putters, then I am not driving that thing in Downtown Denver in rush hour.

I've let nearly a year go by since I posted anything in here, but now, more then ever I have to get a few things off my chest about what's happening with the Denver Broncos.  Now I have been a Bronco fan since the early 90's, I'm 24, and I have witnessed the highest of the highs with two Superbowl's and now, this season, I am witnessing the lowest point since my Bronco fandom if that's a word.

I refuse to go to a game the rest of the year, but let me make it clear; it's not because of a losing season, it's because I don't want to hear the "fire McDaniel's" chants. A long chant, I know, but I'm sure some fans could spin that into a catchy tune. I know things are tough right now, but with 32 teams in the NFL isn't it fair to say Denver is bound to have a bad season now and again?  I mean, are we turning into the Oakland Raiders now, when as soon as things get tough we fire everyone and start over?  That's the trend that the Raiders followed and look at their franchise since their Superbowl nearly ten years ago.  Gruden, Callahan, Turner, Shell, Kiffen and now Cable.  Gruden went right on to win a Superbowl with Tampa and Turner coaches the hottest team in the NFL in San Diego.  I know we are nowhere near the revolving door Al Davis's Oakland Raiders are yet but if we only give a coach two years to build a team and bring in a new system then we give another new coach another two years to build another system then another and another, we continue on a losing cycle.  I hear talk of bringing in Gruden or Cowher but didn't they struggle early on a bit?

Again, it has been too long since I posted anything on here, but honestly, what needs to be said?  Denver is 5-0! They had a close game with the Bengals that resulted in Brandon Stokley catching a tip ball and taking it 87 yards for a touchdown.  Critics said we were no different from last year in our miracle wins.  That game was compared to the "bad call" against San Diego last year or the missed field goal against New Orleans.  Next came Cleveland.  We were actually underdogs.  Denver defense sent a message that game.  Then came Oakland.  Another message was sent.  Critics again said those were the games the broncos were supposed to win, even though  they were underdogs in two of them.  So the talk of, "oh they haven't played anybody" surfaced.  Well two games later and we beat a top NFC Dallas team and one of the best, the New England Patriots.

Wow! It has been a while since I have posted anything on here.  It almost seems there is too much to say. Quarterback worries, our number one draft pick worries and Brandon Marshall worries.  Where do I even begin?  Well, my last post was about how I believe Kyle Orton will do just fine leading this team to the superbowl!! Maybe I am getting a little ahead of myself.  I believe he will do just fine leading us to the playoffs, at the very least a winning record.  There! Is that a little more rational? According to McDaniels he is looking good and feeling good. What more can we ask for at this point?

Now onto Knowshon, or no-show as the media has been calling him.  He still has not reported to camp. No hurry, Pre-season is only a week away.  Plenty of time for a guy that has never taken an NFL snap to learn all that is needed. (COUGH)  I know this happens every year with talented rookies, but after all the craziness this off-season for the Broncos I was really hoping Knowshon would be ready and primed.  Not the case.  Once he gets his deal worked out, I think he will be a great force for Denver, obviously.  I was just hoping they would get everyone on the same page, at least the same book after the whole Cutler situation.  At least the 'hybrid' Robert Ayers is on board!

 I will be the first to admit that this whole Cutler trade situation got under my skin a bit. I was mad at McDaniels, I was mad at Cutler, and I was mad at Bowlen.  Now that it is over and I have faced the reality that Cutler is not coming back, I have had a chance to think rationally.  Kyle Orton is the guy, for now, and that's okay with me.  He can manage a game, and that's what we need in order for our team to get better. I will explain.

Denver had one of the worst defences in the league last year no matter how much I hated to admit it. They were bad, but you have to admit, they were out on the field a lot more than the offense last year. Sometimes, okay a lot of times it was because they failed to stop the run or third down conversions, but every so often the offense would turn the ball over or score so fast that the defense would come out sluggish.  I know it sounds bad to think an offense scoring fast is not a good thing, but it never seemed as though Cutler managed the game all to well.

It has been a while since I last posted anything on here.  Honestly there hasn't been a whole lot going on with the Broncos since the firing of Mike Shanahan and hiring of Josh McDaniels, until now.  I don't even know where to begin.  I suppose starting with the Cutler/McDaniels saga would be best.  At first, I was completely on Jay's side about this issue.  Even if McDaniels never really wanted to trade Cutler, he should have informed him that he was on the trade block, or at least in talks of a trade.  Cutler deserves to know that much.  McDaniels should have ended it before it even began.  First off, Cutler is better than Cassel, flat out.  Second, I don't think a new head coach wants to come to a team and trade away its best player.  That has bad news written all over it.  I know Coach McDaniels made it clear that Jay is the quarterback, but for the call to even have been made to him says that Jay wasn't exactly safe like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady.

I had an interesting conversation with a man at my place of work the other day about the departure of Mike Shanahan.  The conversation started off by him asking me if I was going to be against Mike Shanahan when he goes to a new team.  I replied, "only if he if he goes to a division team."  I figured that was a reasonable response to the question but for some reason he flew off the handle saying that Mike was a legend and an icon for Denver fans and they still need to be loyal to him, but how can you be loyal to a coach when if he is on the opposite side of the field than the Denver Broncos?  It's one thing to respect the man but  to root for him when the Broncos face him is just plain crazy, and if he goes somewhere in the division than I will hope he loses the majority of his games.  Now if we clinch the division early, than sure, I will hope he can put a few victories together.

The Denver Broncos gave the San Diego Chargers the greatest gift a team could ask for. A playoff spot.  It has been well documented in the last few weeks about the Broncos three-game lead and their failure to win at least one of them to lock up the division and get in to the playoffs.  The Chargers were virtually playing for pride when they set out after notching a record of 4-8.  They kept winning and the Broncos kept losing.  The AFC west title was neatly gift wrapped for the bolts.  How did San Diego thank them?  By beating the red-hot Indianapolis Colts led by league MVP  Peyton Manning.  Now all of the sudden this 8-8 football has a chance to get into the AFC championship.  Are you kidding?  A 500 record team has a ligitemate shot to win the Superbowl!  What a gift indeed by the Broncs.

                        An era has ended in Denver.  The firing of Head Coach Mike Shannahan took many by surprise, but some  saw this one coming.  Could it have been the lack of post-season play for the past three years?  Possibly, but most  think the last straw was giving up a three-game division lead with three games left that finally ended Shannan's blue and orange days.  Say what you will about the man, but what he did for Denver was amazing.  Other than Mr. Elway, his name is probably going to be the most mentioned name in Bronco history.
